Sometimes while I travel I miss out on some important events and holidays. This year, I will be missing out on Mother’s Day with my little princess again.
I can remember my first mother’s day very well, as most mothers do. It’s not a specific day on a calendar. It’s not a specific Sunday of the year. Your first Mother’s Day is when you feel your baby move inside for the first time… the first time that real moment hits you that you have created life… It’s an amazing moment that stays with you every day for the rest of your life.

The official Mother’s Day on the calendar is coming up in just a couple weeks, so before I leave on another trip and miss the chance, I would like to be the first to wish my gorgeously radiant friend Jenn:

It has been almost a year since I have seen the Monette family. You might remember their maternity and newborn session as seen here and here.
I have forgotten how busy one year olds can be! After babies learn to crawl, parenting becomes a whole new game and young Alex is definitely ready to play it!
He is a very busy… and clever little boy!

It feels great to once again be called upon to capture another milestone of this families beautiful life. Thank you Angele & Pierre!

Stephen’s Family Farm {Chatham-Kent Family Photographer}

Welcome to the Stephen’s Family Farm!
After spending just a few hours with this family, you could swear you were somehow a part of it! I haven’t seen most of them in nearly 10 years, but after a few hugs and hellos it felt like it was just a few months ago! Some of the family member moved out to Western Canada a few years ago, but it was evident during this surprise Easter visit that the distance hasn’t swayed the closeness of this family. Their family pride is strong and very welcoming!

Thank you to the Stephen’s family for letting me be apart of the celebrations once again, for inviting me in for an awesome family dinner, and for choosing me to capture an important time!

Beach Blankets {Chatham-Kent Family Photographer}

I really have to thank my clients for being so willing to do just about anything that I say, especially when I tell them that we are going to do their family photos at a Canadian beach in April… in the rain! We are really lucky to have beautiful lakes surrounding SW Ontario. I really should bring more families out to the beach to play! I always love how images turn out and there is always such a sense of calm… when your not shivering!

Before heading out to a session, I already have the ideas in my head of the type of images that I want to capture. Sometimes it doesn’t always go as I planned but that always seems to be a pleasant surprise! I knew that I wanted to get photos on the beach but the rain came in before we really had a chance to get out to the water, so we came back into the overhang and I was able to capture some lovely shots of this beautiful family snuggled together in a beach blanket. The images of Jillian and logan snuggling together are some of my most favourite mother/child shots! Those are very precious moments! I think the only thing missing from today was a fire pit and something hot to drink! Mental note for my next styled session!

Meet Mr. Case {Chatham-Kent Family Photographer}

I would like to introduce young Mr. Case. He’s just 3 weeks old and already has his life figured out.
He knows that he is much happier being in his mothers arms than laying on a bed alone. He knows a messy diaper is not allowed…at all! And he now knows that playing camera shy won’t hide his cuteness!

Happy First Birthday Reid!!
I first heard of Jana when I was about 5 years old. I recall my older brother saying her name over and over again… must have been love!
Unfortunately for my brother, Jana was swept away by Larin and now together they have a very handsome son, Reid! He is the perfect mix of both of his parents with bright blue eyes and suave moves with a cell phone!
About a month ago, Reid turned one and had a Winter One-derland party so we were really hoping for snow today just to tie in the theme. Luckily, at the perfect moment, it started to snow… and was sunny at the same time! A photographers dream! Setting!

Thank you Shouldice family for coming to see me today! Jana, you have some great men in your life!

Twice as nice! {Chatham-Kent Newborn Photographer}

Having a baby in the studio always makes for a great day, but having two in the studio makes for a FANTASTIC DAY!
I would like to congratulate Steve and Laura for the safe arrival of these two precious miracles, and I would also like to congratulate baby Tessa and baby Alex for having such awesome parents!
Some parents just seem to have the baby manual embedded within them and know exactly what each cry means right from day one. Steve and Laura are definitely have what it takes to take on the challenge of having twins at home, AND two other handsome young boys!

Laura – You have such a beautiful glow about you… and you have a smile like Julianne Moore! Love it!

Baby Soft {Chatham-Kent Baby Photographer}

This session absolutely melted my heart!
Baby portraits have always been a favourite of mine, but this time of year makes them tricky to do in natural light because of the grey days and bad weather.
With the opening of my studio, I now have this problem solved! All of the photos below were taken at my studio location with natural light. The best part of all is that the studio is big enough that I can get traditional portraits but I also have room to move around to capture those natural lifestyle-like images as well.

Meet baby Adam! He’s so unbelievably sweet!
Apparently, Adam’s mom and I used to play together when we were little girls! I think that makes me love this session even more!

An evening with the Catton Family

This time of year makes outdoor and natural light photography very difficult. I ran into my first challenge of the year while visiting with the Catton’s at their home on a gloomy Friday evening.
I don’t use flash very often just for the pure sake of loving how the camera catches natural light… If I had a film camera, you can bet I would be using that for beautiful light!
Flash creates harsh shadows when not used properly. I will admit… when it comes to flash, I’m still learning!

All in all, I had loads of fun chasing after Miss Delilah while trying to capture some golden moments before she turned one… which happened not long after these photos were taken.

I love Meg & Matt’s use of colour through out the house! Really perks up a grey day! Miss Delilah has the biggest sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen on a child!
