These two are a wealth of inspiration, knowledge and energy, and are always willing to listen to me babble on erratically  after I have had entirely too much caffeine!

A couple month’s ago, Manifesto Photography teamed up with the Freckled Owl and The Pottery Cupboard to put together a beautiful prize package for a winning Facebook fan… which happened to be me! The prize pack consisted of a photoshoot with Manifesto, a knitted scarf from the Freckled Own and two mugs from The Pottery Cupboard! How sweet is that! This could not have come at a more perfect time! I have been snuggled into my awesome scarf (which I get complimented on all the time!) while drinking tea from my super huge mugs!  I can’t wait for the spring to get my photos done with Arica & Joshua… we are going to have a blast! Thank you again to all involved!

I haven’t done a gift giveaway online in a long time and this has certainly inspired me to pay it forward and pass along the kindness to someone else! So keep your eyes open for that in the very near future!

Another fabulous thing that has been going on in my life is the crossover from Blackberry to iPhone. I did love my blackberry… sturdy, easy to type, semi good photos… eeerk…semi good photos? Time to upgrade! A girl like me who is non-stop with the photo taking can’t settle for semi-good photos on the tool that is most accessible at any given moment!
So I now have a shinny new white iPhone which I have completely fallen in love with and clearly the camera on this thing is my favourite part!  I have so many super fun camera apps and I am highly considering making a small album of iPhone photos! How fun!

So, this is me… with my new scarf… taken with my iPhone (Hipstamatic App). Clearly.. I’m addicted to this thing! Look how fun it is!

(Usually late, but I don’t think anyone noticed!)
Today though… today marks a whole new era in my life! I jokingly say that I have retired, but if you ask anyone who has retired they will tell you that they are busier now than they ever were when they had a regular 9-5 day. This is the plan!

Today started off with a little less morning drama… just a little dusting off of my gym shoes, a rub of the eyes and off to ‘the club’ I went, waving at the drive thru as I passed by. Truly… this has to be the GoodLife (wink wink). What I didn’t expect from my Monday morning was to be faced with those feelings of being the ‘new kid’ all over again! It seems as though “the club” actually refers to all of the stay at home moms with mini vans who stylishly occupy the elliptical machines at top speeds. How is it possible that at 9am on a Monday morning the gym is packed?  I was hoping to slip in, take my choice of machine and breeze through my work out like a pro. Again… WRONG! Not only should I have taken a closer look at the fitness class schedule (it’s probably best to avoid going in 15 minutes before a step class begins… apparently I came in during prime warm up time!) I should have also taken a refresher course because there is nothing more embarrassing than standing completely still on a treadmill for 5 minutes trying to figure out how to turn in on while all of the pro moms watched from the row of ellipticals behind me! Oiy… Clearly I am bad at the gym!

I won’t take the experience as discouragement… I will make it my next challenge!

So what will fill my days now?
Not to worry friends! I have a list of 101 things to do and I want to share it all with you though my photos on this blog.
One of the big jobs to tackle is our building project. Sigh… BIG JOB! I had better clean off my desk for this one! Oh, and shop for new gym attire!

Polaroids, Holgas, lomography cameras… FILM! Who knew film would make such a huge come back!
There are photo shops that have gone completely out of business because no one has the need to developed film anymore due digital technology. It’s sad really… when you think about the large film culture that is coming out of the vintage wood work right now. Where will they go!
I do believe that we will look back on our crisp digital photos and think WHY did we over process so much! (I’m already doing it!)

Have you met film photographer Jose Villa yet?

The man is a film genius! His photos are breathtaking and I have to say, it’s refreshing to see someone in the wedding industry who hasn’t forgotten what PHOTOGRAPHY is really about. He captures light, love and amazing colour in his artful images and because he shoots with film he must line up the shots with perfect exposure and composition every time. There is not an instant image to look at on an LCD screen on the back of his camera. This is pure bravery!  Jose recently launched his first Fine Art Wedding Photography book, which of course I have! If you don’t have it, you can find it here.

Although I love the look of film, I don’t think that I will ever get over my love of instant gratification long enough to be able to shoot film at a wedding, but I am seriously thinking of taking it up as my next expensive hobby!

Of course a blog posting wouldn’t be the same without some of my own images. Here are some vintage feel photos of mine that I did to feed my polaroid addiction.

I found it quite amazing that so many people actually follow along! I had no idea, so thank you for speaking up! It’s great to have you here!
I have been very busy with several big projects which seem to be taking up a lot of my blog time. We are doing a major overhaul renovation on an old warehouse which will include a studio area for me. I couldn’t be more excited to always have a place to shoot! So many possibilities when you get to start with a fresh canvas!

One of my best friends found her one love and was married this past weekend. I had the pleasure of being one of the fabulous bridesmaids. It felt strange being on the other side of the lens for a day but it’s always a good refresher to do that every once in a while just so that you are reminded of what it feels like for your clients to be in front of your lens. Another large project that I have in the works is making me feel like I should have a law degree and of course I have my daily RM schedule which does include a lot of travel to some pretty amazing places. I have just returned from another quick trip to Italy. I will post photos of that trip tomorrow… I PROMISE!
So, it’s been a busy couple of weeks, but I am back in blogging action! Thanks for sticking with me!

Jane, the young owner of  The Bag Lady in London, Ontario was kind enough to let me snap some photos while Ryenne and I enjoyed a refreshing iced tea! The sun was spilling in from every window making the quaint boutique feel so cozy… mmm… that summer time feeling that Ryenne and I were chasing. Finally… warmth and color! Every inch of the store had vintage nik-naks from all over the world! My favorite had to be the vintage poster in the washroom from Nice, France. I sometimes forget to collect souvenirs along my many travels and my trip to Nice/Monaco was definitely one of my fav’s!

Next time you are in London, Ontario (yes, my OTHER London!) Stop in to visit Jane and her two gorgeous poodles Lucy & Oscar!
