Veronica Lane Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

A psychic once told me that I would have two kinds of jobs in my life: a job that gave me money and a job that gave me pleasure in life; but I would have to choose one. She also said that she could see me in Rome with a man whose name started with the letter M. At the time, I couldn't believe her! A small town girl like me... in Rome? I was only 17 at the time... It all meant nothing. I haven't thought about that psychic in more than 15 years, until now.

Right now, I have a very unique job that let's me travel around the world while dealing with very high profile clients (Money), I love my job... but lately I have debated on giving up my day job to become a full time photographer because that's where my passion has led me (Pleasure). I would have never thought that I could pursue my dream of owning my own photography business if it hadn't been for the love of my life pushing me everyday to do what I love. Did I mention that his name begins with (M) and that he's Italian? This small town girl is moving to overseas in the next few months do to what I love. I really wish I could remember that psychic's name!

I currently live in Ontario, Canada with my 8 year old daughter. She is my sunshine... my only sunshine! You will see her in my blog photos more than anyone else. I can't help it, she's just so cute! The photos that I have of her I will treasure for life. They are REAL moment photos that really show her personality. That is my photography style and what I aim for when shooting: Real. Life. Photography.

Nothing pleases me more than when I give my clients their photos and see the smiles on their faces. Whether it's wedding photography, boudoir or children’s photography, the smiles always come out!

I love photography… and it shows!

Amy & Patrick Marathon engagement Session Part 2

A continuation of Amy & Patrick’s engagent session…

Believe it or not, there is more to come!!

To be continued…

Family Ties: Woodliffe

One of the best parts about being a non-restricted photographer is that I get to join in on some pretty amazing events! Today I had the pleasure of joining the Sparling family once again; only this time I was asked to capture the Sparling-Woodliffe family in their good-bye celebration to their family farm.

They gathered together and spoke about all of the memories that they had growing up in the old country home that is surrounded by lush gardens and huge oak trees. Songs were sang and prayers were shared. I’m not sure that I have ever seen such close family ties!

Thank you for letting me share in this very special day!

Aunt Susie - What an amazing way to say goodbye to a home that a family has shared for years. I want to adopt this action, for when I have to leave our current home, the home we built together, in hopes that our children would feel the love we shared while carefully designing every inch of it. This family showed me that you can walk away, but keep the memories alive. Amazing.June 15, 2010 - 10:20 am

Welcome to Texas, Y’all!

Who would have thought that just a two hour plane ride south could bring you to a lifestyle that is far beyond my comprehension! What exactly are grits? Or hush puppies…I’m afraid to even ask about the oxtails!

We were greeted with a “Welcome To Cresson Y’all… Oh, watch out  for “rat-lers” in these here parts!” (it wasn’t long before scorpions and fire ants were added to the beware list!) Even though it was more that 100 degrees outside and us Canadian folk were melting like popsicles, it was nothing but good times with gut busting laughs from all of us while hanging out with our hostesses and their superb southern hospitality.

One of my most favorite moments what exploring the church that was on our hostess’ property. (Or as they call it, the “Charch”).  The multi-tasker… phone and camera. These are my lifelines! I didn’t being my Canon to Texas… I thought it might be safer that way!

My next favorite stop: The pool!
Unfortunately, I wasn’t smart enough to bring a “Bay-din” suit, but that was nothing that a quick stop at Target couldn’t fix… unfortunately, when I tried to get in the pool, there was a sad little dead bird in the water. No pun intended, but it kind of put a damper on wanting to swim!

“Ma Texas Paych!”

I was pretty sad leaving Texas… I think we all brought a little bit of of the south home with us!

See ya’ll again real soon!

Amy & Patrick Marathon Engagement Session Part 1

So what’s the big news? What am I checking off my bucket list?
Veronica Lane Photography will be heading down under to celebrate with Amy & Patrick at their wedding just outside of Adelaide Australia. AUSTRALIA!!
I am so extremely honoured that they chose me do be their official wedding photographer!  I would have planned to attend the wedding regardless, but this just makes it that much more fun!

We had a marathon engagement session this past Sunday. I can’t believe how many awesome photos I have of these two!  They were so natural in front of the lens. They made my part in this SO easy!

Amy’s super hot side! Hmm… I wonder what she was saying!

I couldn’t decide which version of this photo I liked better.

Color… … or black & white?

More fun photos from Amy & Patrick’s Marathon Engagement Session to come!

Great Canadian Long Weekend!

The only thing that was missing from our Great Canadian May “2-4″ weekend was a tent! (But really… that’s VERY ok!) Tents some how have a way of attracting 8 legged critters that I can live without!
my arachnophobia is partially to blame for my parents selling their cottage at the beach! Yes, it’s that bad!

The weekend started off with Retro Fest in Downtown Chatham-Kent.  As a lover of vintage cars… Of course we had to go! It’s quite impressive to see how many people come into Chatham just for this annual event! The main street was lined up with hundreds of classic cars and  car enthusiasts alike.  I have come to learn that this isn’t just a “Boyz ‘n toys” hobby, women certainly have there place in this game as well!

Next Stop:   The Fire Pit

This is what Canadian weekends are all about!
Marshmallows and hot dogs… even if they are veggie dogs! (Thank’s Mom!)

Dessert… Nothing better than burned marshmallows! Speaking of which, have you ever tasted “Roasted Marshmallow Ice Cream from Eve Chocolatier? Sooo delicious… mix it up with some Coffee Toffee and your taste buds will never be the same again!

The weekend isn’t over yet!!

Now we are off to the local Aviaries to play! Let it be known that I am NOT a fan of caged animals. It actually breaks my heart to come here and that is the reason I haven’t been in years.
This place was  packed with families enjoying the splash pads and zip lines… and yes, the caged animals. We had a great day, but I will have to come up with a pretty good excuse to avoid coming here again.

Seems so lonely.

This guy seems to be pretty happy though!Fruit Loops… the natural food of the rain forests. He didn’t seem to sure that he wanted to eat it!

Time to plaaaay!
We wrapped up this beautiful long weekend with some corn on the cob and grilled asparagus. I will have to remember these things I love about Canadian summers and introduce them to future brit friends!

Michelle Crummy - Looks like a wonderful way to spend the weekend,great pics!!!!!!May 24, 2010 - 8:35 pm

jen - You are moving overseas too? I'm moving to England in September, and Petroula shared your blog with me during one of our discussions about various ex-pat-related topics. Glad I found it!May 31, 2010 - 10:55 pm

Susan - I totally agree with you on not wanting to visit that place with those tiny little cages for the animals that should be in their own habitats running free.June 13, 2010 - 11:37 pm

Spring Fever

Instead of sitting in front of my computer blogging tonight, I’m going to take the sneak attack approach and drop a photo then run outside to enjoy the nice weather!

I’m off to pick a bouquet of dandelions with Ryenne! Byeeeee!

Aunt Susie - When I look at these in my yard, I hate them but for some reason you have a way of making everything look beautiful!! Time for you to work on Aunt Susie!! hahaMay 20, 2010 - 3:09 pm

In the heart of downtown Chatham Kent lies one of my most favourite shops in Southwestern Ontario. Such a favourite in fact, that I used to work there just so I could enjoy the atmosphere and chocolaty deliciousness! Eve Chocolatier proves to be the leading chocolate shop in Chatham-Kent and now has expanded to the Waterloo region.

If you can’t make it into the store, visit the website at www.evechocolatier.com to have your order shipped directly to you or delivered as a gift.

This “Details” shoot was taken on my own terms and was not a paid project of Eve Chocolatier.
To keep the anonymity of the guests in the store, storewide shots will not be published.

Fun with styling

I have this incredible urge to do a vintage photos shoot.
This has prompted my thoughts on learning about being a “stylist” for photo shoots. I tried a little below, but it’s far too much work for me to do in one day!  If you are interested in working with me as a stylist or as a subject, you know where to find me!

I would LOVE to do an Alice in Wonderland themed shoot!

For the below photos, I would like to thank Pauline from Eve Chocolatier for the props and to Trish from the Purple Pansy for promptly ordering me some beautiful peonies! I have had a lot of fun playing with then!

Hope you enjoy!

Stacey Warrener - These pics are amazing Veronica! You are very talented!!May 21, 2010 - 4:43 pm
